Volunteer: EARTH DAY Litter Cleanup on April 22!

Celebrate Earth Day by giving back! Join Parks & Recreation from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM for a citywide litter cleanup. Volunteers will work together to remove trash from parks and help create a cleaner, healthier environment for wildlife and our community.

Groups and individuals are encouraged to sign up—choose your preferred location and be part of the impact!

The Friends of McAllister Park (FOMP) is working to keep McAllister Park beautiful by slowing the spread of invasive Johnson Grass. Duties may include cutting seed heads, raking thatch, digging and removing rhizomes, or replanting natives.

Blooming with Birdie & the San Antonio Arboretum are bringing another nature-based celebration to San Antonio: ArBird Day - Celebrating the birds, the trees, and everything in between!

On Sunday, April 26 from 9am–1pm, the Arboretum will transform into a hands-on learning and outdoor exploration under the canopy. ArBird Day is a fun, family-friendly fiesta celebrating the special relationship between birds, trees, and everything in between! 

You can expect: Free Tree Giveaway & education, Pruning Principles class, Guided Arboretum tours, Little Birder “I Spy” adventure, Bird kite-making, Birding walks…and more nature-filled goodness.

To bring this day to life, we’re gathering helpful hands - individuals and groups alike - to help with activities, guide families, and assist with setup and breakdown. As always, we will do our best to place volunteers in roles they prefer.

Ages: Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Youth ages 16–17 are welcome to volunteer when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
