Frequently Asked Questions: Kayak & River Cleanup
1. Does signing up reserve a kayak?
No. Kayaks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
2. Can I bring my own kayak?
Yes, and it's encouraged. A signed waiver is still required.
3. How long can I use a kayak provided by the event?
Each volunteer may use a kayak for up to one hour to ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate.
4. What should I wear for kayaking?
Wear waterproof clothing or items you don’t mind getting wet. A hat, sunscreen, and a change of clothes are also recommended.
5. Do I need to bring cleanup supplies?
No. All supplies, including gloves, bags, litter grabbers, and safety gear, will be provided.
6. Is there an age limit for volunteering?
Yes. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old to participate in kayaking. Those aged 15–17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and have a signed waiver.
7. Can I participate if I don’t want to kayak?
Yes. There are plenty of land-based cleanup opportunities around the park and riverbank.
8. Will restrooms be available?
Yes. Public restrooms are available on-site.
9. Do I need to register in advance?
Pre-registration is encouraged to help with planning, but walk-ups are welcome.
10. Do I need to stay for the entire event?
No. Join us when you can and stay as long as you’d like. A team member will be at the entrance to check you in and assist with kayak sign-ups if you're participating in the water-based cleanup.
