Opportunities From: City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation

Help keep McAllister Park clean with us and with some of our amazing local running groups such Alamo City Trail Runners and San Antonio RoadRunners. Friends of McAllister Park will provide litter grabbers, buckets, trash bags, safety vests, and work gloves. Our friends from the Alamo City road runners will be providing free Propel electrolyte water for all who attend. Come lend a hand and enjoy the park while making a difference. Join the Brackenridge Park Conservancy for a litter cleanup and help maintain a healthy environment for people, plants, and wildlife!

All materials will be provided (gloves, trash bags, and litter grabbers).

Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, wear sunblock and bug spray, and bring your own bottled water.

The Friends of McAllister Park (FOMP) is working to keep McAllister Park beautiful by slowing the spread of invasive Johnson Grass. Duties may include cutting seed heads, raking thatch, digging and removing rhizomes, or replanting natives.

Work sites vary weekly. Please register with FOMP at the highlighted link below for further details.

Volunteers are needed to assist with general garden maintenance such as pruning, weeding, spreading mulch, and preparing the garden beds for planting.

Volunteer Master Naturalists will be on site to answer questions and educate anyone interested in learning more about native plants. 

All garden supplies provided. Be sure to bring your own garden or work gloves if you have them.

Volunteer to help preserve our cemeteries by joining a clean-up at the Eastside Historic City Cemeteries on Saturday, May 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Are you passionate about our greenway trails? Consider becoming a Trail Watch Volunteer! Trail Watch Volunteers help protect and activate the trails by reporting vandalism, picking up litter, assisting trail users, and sharing information—all while enjoying the outdoors. On your regular stroll, you can be the eyes and ears of the trails and help ensure everyone can enjoy their natural beauty.

This program is open to volunteers ages 18 & up.
