
Join Brackenridge Park Conservancy’s first-ever invasive bamboo removal volunteer event! Help cut down invasive bamboo growing in the park and prepare it for re-use for the San Antonio Zoo. We will be removing the bamboo growing along Avenue B.
All materials will be provided (loppers, gloves, eye protection, and knee pads). Bring a water bottle, sunblock, and bug spray. Please wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed shoes.
Please Note: This event requires lifting of objects up to 20lbs in weight, kneeling on uneven ground, bending over, and navigating tripping hazards.
All volunteers must be 18 & up.
When: Sunday, August 9, 2026
Timeframe: 8:30 a.m.-10 a.m.
Location: Meet on Avenue B behind The Acorn School and look for the Conservancy table next to the empty lot.
