Join the Friends of McAllister Park and assist with Johnson grass removal.
Johnson grass is considered one of the 10-most noxious weeds in the world! And we've got it in McAllister Park. Help us keep McAllister Park beautiful by slowing the spread of this terrible weed!
The seeds are easily spread by water, and many of the hot spots in the park are at stormwater drainages where water comes in from neighborhoods and roads around the park. This weed is so bad though, it not only spreads by seeds, but also by underground rhizomes.
The areas identified are small enough for hand trimming of the seed heads, and hand pulling of the underground rhizomes.
